PRINCE2 roles - project manager

Project manager is second of most important & mandatory roles in PRINCE2 as this role takes day to day responsability to coordinate project delivery. We should not start any project without appointed Project manager. Project owner/executive & Project manager makes strongs project leadership fist supporting each other from strategic to tactical project management level. Project owner/executive & Project manager are forbidden to join to single person if project success is important.

6	Create & delegate tasks to Team manager(s)
7	Take leadership to lead Team manager(s) & project team members
8	Manage project risks🔺
9	Show leadership in communication with Project steering commitee & Project owner/executive
10	Show leadership in communication with Project user(s)
11	Show leadership in communication with Project supplier(s)
12	Show leadership in communication with Team manager(s) & project team members
13	Provide regular project progress reports to Project steering commitee & Project owner/executive
14	Approve delivered tasks results, ensure created project product quality verification actions
15	Ensure day to day project stage control & management
16	Organize project problems resolution
17	Request decisions for project changes from Project steering commitee
18	Escale critical issues & risks🔺 for decision making to Project steering commitee & Project owner/executive
19	Take over duties of Project support if such role does not exist in project
20	Take over duties of Team manager(s) if such role does not exist in project
21	Prepare project closure & request project closure from Project steering commitee

Project steering commitee

Project owner/executive, internal employee accountable for project benefit who’ takes overall responsability for project business case and project benefit.

Project user(s), who represent project users’ responsible for requirements and post-project benefit reporting

Project supplier(s), who represent supplier interest’ responsible for project result/output and its quality

Top management, who provides mandate to project owner/executive

Project manager, coordinate project stage implementation according to authority recieved from project steering committee or/and project owner

Project assurance, supports project steering committee (usually as audit function, optional)

Change authority, empowered by project steering commitee with limited authority to approve project changes

Project support, helps project manager with any day to day items where needed. High focus to quality activities. Optional role, if not existant duties are performed by project manager.

Team manager(s), responsible for project product implementation ( deliver project output) with focus to quality

Risk Owner, responsible for assigned particular risk management
