PRINCE2 4 principle - Learning organization

Universal Practical Simple Benefit focused Principles Implement Templates Ready apps for Jira

PRINCE2 project teams should take effort to learn from projects delivered in the past. Each project is unique and mistakes will always be possible and will happen. Every team member should show some initiative and leadership to make lesson learned practices happen.

This principle states - in each project all team members MUST 1) aggregate and 2) document lessons learned in clearly defined place and 3) pass those lessons learned to future projects.

This principle can be implemented using lesson log. Implementation approach may vary but principle itself - not. It is must for every project.

Lesson learned principle is very simple but still many projects and companies often do not apply it due to low real attention of managers to this topic, motivation obstables and other reasons. This principle is cornerstone to establish continued learning organization, strenthen potential risk management capacity and success probability of the future projects. Project manager role is responsible to take key leadership to establish and implement this principle day to day.
